Winter 2020 Virtual Season Online Registration

The high school interscholastic athletics virtual program is available to all students at the high school level – no cuts. The high school virtual athletic season consists of a minimum of three student-athlete and coach engagement sessions per week (corollary sports will meet two times per week), over the course of five weeks.  The Winter virtual season is scheduled to occur between October 26 – December 4, 2020.

Registration will open on Tuesday October 6 and close after Wednesday October 21.  Starting on October 22nd or 23rd, the winter coaches will reach out to every registered athlete who has a valid physical and send them the access information to join the online sessions.  Anyone wishing to register after 10/21 should first email the coach to make sure they are still accepting student athletes for the Winter Virtual Season.  Because the virtual season is only five weeks long, there are no guarantees late additions will be accepted.

We plan on offering the following sports during the winter virtual season: Varsity & JV Boys Basketball; Varsity & JV Girls Basketball; Bocce; Poms; Indoor Track; Swimming & Diving; and Varsity & JV Wrestling.  This represents all of the traditional winter sports except for Cheerleading which was offered during the fall virtual season.

All students participating in the Winter virtual season, as part of the MCPS interscholastic athletics program, must have their parent/guardian complete the online registration process. Registration is done electronically through the WJ Winter Virtual Season Registration Form – https://forms.gle/kn76YwWoYNff7fMS7. Please use Chrome as your browser as this is a Google Form.  Students and parents/guardians who have difficulty with registration should contact Athletic Director Tom Rogers at thomas_w_rogers@mcpsmd.org

Students must have a valid physical on file with Walter Johnson HS.  Given the unprecedented circumstances, for students who are unable to secure an updated physical, MCPS will extend the expiration date of an existing physicals on file at Walter Johnson HS by one calendar year.  To the extent a student does not have a physical on file with Walter Johnson HS, the student will need to obtain one. Due to the strenuous nature of selected activities, each student is encouraged to consult their physician concerning fitness to participate in the program.  During any live engagement, parents/guardians and students must ensure that surroundings are free of obstacles and that an appropriate plan is in place on how to access help in the event of an emergency. We are excited to provide your student with the greatest education-based virtual athletics season during such unprecedented times. We Can, We Will, WE RAISE!
