CONCUSSIONS, BASELINE TESTING, AND SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST

It is imperative that parents and students carefully review the important information that is provided on the MCPS CONCUSSIONS, BASELINE TESTING, AND SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST page.

Starting with the 2019-20 school year, instead of requiring a new baseline concussion test every two years, students will only have to complete a baseline test one time, prior to their initial participation in the MCPS interscholastic athletics program. This adjustment has been made based on current research and expert recommendations, which show there is a lack of evidence to demonstrate that widespread systemwide baseline testing changes outcomes for students who suffer concussions. Therefore, only incoming 9th graders and students who are participating in our athletics program (WJ) for the first time need to be tested.

All student-athletes who require testing must present the signed “Consent Form ImPact Baseline Concussion Testing” available here.

TESTING AT WJ IS FOR WJ STUDENTS ONLY and NO APPOINTMENT IS NECESSARY! Click here for the testing schedule.
