Coming off of their 2018 Division I title and County Championship, the girls team opened their 2019 season with a 4-1 victory over Centennial. Playing at #1 singles now after an undefeated season and county title at #2 singles, as well as a regional and mixed doubles state title, junior Lea Kosanovic overcame a little rust to win comfortably. At #2 singles, new sophomore Nitsa Sigua won her first match ever for WJ as well. The #1 doubles team of senior Emily Martin and junior Rose Knapp looked like they needed a little more practice time together in losing their first match together this year. At #2 doubles, senior Nikki Emamian and junior Corrinne Stuckey fought hard in winning a close match decided by a tiebreaker in the end. At #3 doubles, junior Daria London and freshman Daria Ivaschenko won their opening match together decisively.
