Last night the WJ girls traveled to the Show Place Arena for the first day of competition for the state championships. Maya Kimball, last week’s 3A/4A West Regional champion, fell in her quarterfinal bout, but is still alive and will return Saturday to start her run into the placement matches. Lillian Frew, last week’s Regional finalist, advanced by fall in the 3rd period to the semifinal round. Lillian is guaranteed top 6, with the opportunity to be WJ’s first girl’s state champion!

Follow along on Trackwrestling.com (search MPSSAA tournament) as Ari Kefer, last week’s 3A/4A West Coed regional 3rd placer, starts his state championship run on the coed side today, and again tomorrow (Saturday) as Lillian, Maya, and Ari return to action for Day 2 of the tournament.
